    I’ve Got You

I did a new spiritual muscle building exercise tonight and it kinda wrecked me. I really didn’t think much was going to come from this exercise but, my-lanta I was wrong. God showed a truth to me that I’ve heard a million times, from the time I sang He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands till now. But, this time, it was God speaking directly to my heart. The exercise was this. First, ask the Lord to open the ears of your heart which comes from Isaiah 55:3. “Incline your ear, and come to me; hear that your soul may live.” Then say, “Father, what does your voice sound…

    His Desire Is For Me

Hey friends! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. There is no reason really, just enjoying the season with my family. We are slowly, and I mean very slowly, getting back into the swing of things. You want to hear a funny? Really, a HUGE mom fail! EEKK. My youngest is in 2nd grade and he came to Launch Pad (kids mid-week church program) with a drawn on mustache and beard yesterday from school.  I asked him why he had that. He says, “I don’t know, The teacher just drew it on all of us.” Ha!! He has an awesome teacher. Beside the point. Let me move on. After Launch…

Why are there so many rules in the Bible?

I’ve heard and read a lot lately that Christmas is the only time of year where many people who wouldn’t normally be receptive to Jesus are.  People are more open and willing to talk about Jesus and his great love for us, and all He has done and the miracles that happen every day.  This is super exciting to me.  I hope and pray you all are having great conversations this Christmas season about our wonderful Savior.  During this same time, I’ve had some conversations with a few and they’ve said yeah, Jesus is great but the Bible is just a big book of rules.  Why are there so many…

    Speak Truth

Have you ever been around a group of middle school boys?  Holy Moly!  They can be stinky!!  That is my life for the next several years 🙂  This smelliness has reminded me to speak truth, even if its a tad embarrassing.  Let me explain what I mean by speak truth. My 12-year-old son is starting to get to “that” phase.  You know, he gets a little, or a lot, stinky, his hair gets oily faster, he needs deodorant and a daily shower.  Is he aware of his issue?  No.  Does he want to take a shower daily? No.  Does he always remember his deodorant?  No.  Who better to tell him…

    Daily Devotional Planner

Ya’ll, I’m a mess.  Seriously.  I am not a planner, I often fly by the seat of my pants, and to say I’m a Free Spirit would defiantly be an understatement.  I don’t like boring things, I’m not a fan of grumpy people, and I love to laugh.  I don’t do well with stress or people telling me what to do.  I’m antsy and can’t sit still for too long.  I love to be busy and have lots of projects going, and I love my house to be clean.  All that to say, without Jesus I’d be a ScReWbAlL!!  Jesus keeps me grounded.  Being as I am, though I struggle…

    Created for Love

You Are Created for Love Do you ever wonder why we humans were created?  Kids, I think especially ask that question but does your mind ever go there?  Why are we hear on this earth?  What’s the point?  I’ve often heard the answer is God created us for his companionship and friendship with Him.  That is true, but I’ve got a tiny bit of a different twist.  I think we are created to be loved by God.  I mean, the first most important plan for our life is to be loved by God.  Every other plan is second.  You are created for love. Simple Gospel That’s the entire simple Gospel…

    Do Something Beautiful for God

Another day and another post of not doing what I was planning.  I really really wasn’t going to write on anything I had heard in a sermon or read in a book, except the Bible.  MY PLAN was to just write what the Lord spoke to me through His Word and His Word alone.  Ugh!  This is why I don’t plan and drives my husband BONKERS.  Why plan when plans never go as planned???  He often asks what are we doing tonight?  What are we doing this weekend?  What about Christmas?  Have you thought about summer vacation?  And I’m always like I don’t know what I’m doing in the next…

    Who Are You Listening to?

Heyo!  I’m curious.  Do you ever struggle with the voices of the world?  You know, the ones that say I’m not good enough, I’m not important, I suck, I’m a failure.  Do you feel covered in shame?  I heard someone say something this weekend that is driving me bonkers.  They said shame on us, shame on us!  And I thought no, God doesn’t put shame on us.  He blesses us with conviction so that eventually we will become more and more like him, but no, God never gives us shame. Shame was never part of God’s plan for us to feel.  Shame wasn’t in the garden until Adam and Eve…

My mind is kinda swirling today and hard to focus because I really really need a nap.  I’m going to get this out though before the nap!  I couldn’t decide what the Lord was nudging me to write about till finally seeing different scriptures piece together and the subject is…Water! Exciting right?  Let’s get going. Nap Time Is your life going swimmingly at the moment?  Oh hahaha!  I crack myself up, swimmingly… Do you see what I did there?  HAHA!  Ok, let me compose myself.  Did I mention I needed a nap?   For real though.  Are you feeling a bit parched in life?  Other than needing a nap I personally am not feeling…

    No More Buts

We are gonna jump in right away today because I’m a little fiery.  😬 I’ve heard this phrase several times the last couple days and it is driving me… Are you ready for it…I know God can, but… or I know God is able, but… or I know God is good, but… I know God is powerful, but… OH MY GOODNESS, Y’ALL! Stop it right now!  Please!  I love you but seriously STOP.IT!! No!  It is I know God can.  Period.  I know God is able.  Period. I know God is good.  Period.  I know God is powerful. Period.  Let’s look at Scripture and discover some truths. My Favorite Scripture…

    Stop Crawling in the Dirt

My goodness, the weather has been the perfect sleeping weather the past few days.  I just want to curl up with my loves and sleep the mornings away.  That hasn’t happened.  We’ve got lots going on in this house with flag football, soccer, an ear infection, and the dog chewing through my laptop cord.  Lots of fun happening around here!  I’m praying I make it through my post before my computer dies!  EEK.  I better get to moving. My husband goes to a Bible study for men that has no name, so I call it his Man Study.  I get a lot of really strange looks when I say he’s…

    Don’t Worry, Be Happy

I’ve been studying in Philippians for a hot minute.  I just really feel like there is some major meat that I need to feast on, but sometimes it is hard for me to slow down and really let it all sink in, and to really understand all that the Lord wants me to learn from a particular scripture.  God just keeps telling me to go back to Philippians.  You aren’t done here.  So, I go back and read it again.  It’s only a 4 short chapters, but just so much goodness. Today something finally jumped out at me and totally got my attention.  Like, when my kids are being rowdy…

    Be Weird

Is it just me or do you have people around you who are really struggling.  I mean really really trudging through some dark stuff.  I sure do.  Several people in my little bubble of the world are really hurting, and what in the world do you say?  I don’t know the answer to that.  I just don’t.  What can you say?  Nothing will make these dark, hard times better.  Not much will encourage someone when they are knocked so low already.  So, what do you do?  I don’t know that either. I Struggle To be frank, I’ve never had to walk through really hard things.  Yes, my son is a…

    Prioritized Praise

I learned a new term this week from the book the Battle Plan for Prayer by Stephen and Alex Kendrick.  Prioritized praise.  Wow!  What a challenge in itself to prioritize praise above all else.  I know I know I say it a lot, but in our culture today, it is SO EASY to totally focus on ourselves and our problems.  When we truly praise the King of Majesty the last thing we are thinking of is ourselves. A paragraph from the above-mentioned book that solidified this for me says, “In praise, we revel in the reality of His majesty.  We remember He is perfect, powerful, and precise.  We acknowledge He…

    What Are You Magnifying?

Today I have a question for you.  What in your life are you magnifying? I recently heard a different definition from Jenn Johnson of the word magnify and it was a real eye-opener for me.  The definition I heard was to refocus.  Oh my!   I’m thinking of a magnifying glass and what does it do?  It makes us refocus or change our focus on one object.  Does the object change?  Does it actually get bigger?  Does the object you are looking at even move?  No!  The magnifying glass just makes it appear bigger.  It shifts our focus and makes the object appear in a different way. What Are You Magnifying?  Again,…

    Have a Happy Heart

My hubby and I went on a little shopping date yesterday and we ate at Olive Garden.  We witnessed a waiter having some trouble with one of his tables.  He was trying to correct the problem with them, but he was getting a bit flustered.  Then, he goes to his next table and proceeds to tell his customers that he is having a difficult time with another table.  Jaw drop.  I thought, no no no no.  You don’t do that.  You, Mr. Waiter, are there to serve them and make sure they have nice time, not make them want to be unhappy as well. How often do we do that…

    Eat The Honey

Bible story day!  Yay!!!  I’ve just kinda been jumping around in my Bible without a real plan.  I often like to pick a book or a subject and study the Word that way, but sometimes I’m a little sporadic and like to not have a plan.  Those who know me would be shocked to hear that.  HAHAHA.  Kidding.  I don’t ever have a plan.  I’m so thankful God has a plan for me, because I’d be a mess without him and his guidance.  Oh man!  I didn’t even plan to say that last sentence, but today’s subject is God has a really big plan!  🙂  God is so good! Let’s…
